The International Railway equipment exhibition organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, is the only international event in India for the Railway and its allied sectors. The Indian Railways participate in the IREE in a big way, displaying their capabilities and future requirements.

IREE 2011 will host an international conference on railways concurrently with the event. The conference will be addressed by eminent experts from India and overseas. The objective of the conference is to highlight the technological advancement in Railway equipment and private sector participation. To facilitate trade, a buyer seller meet will be organized between Indian Railways and the industry. There will be exclusive pavilions focusing on the SME sector and Safety and Security.
