OPPORTUNITIES in INDIAN RAILWAYS
- IR proposes to import 50 electric & 50 diesel locomotives over the next 3 years
- IR has worked out new projects under public-private partnership scheme
- ailways is also expected to invest US$ 45.9 billion in the 11th Plan (2007-12), triple the amount envisaged in the 10th Plan (2002-07)
- Total investment of US$ 5.6 billion has been planned for two corridors
- Three new electric loco, diesel loco & coach factories to be set up
- FDI inflow into railways has been US$ 75.11 million from April 2000 to January 2009
- Annual plan for 2009-10 envisages investment of US$ 7.6 billion
